Terms of Service

1. Introduction and acceptance

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the CompanionVoice platform and related services (“Service”), operated by CompanionVoice (“we”, “us”, “our”).

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Service description

CompanionVoice provides an AI-powered phone companion designed for family caregivers of people with dementia. The Service answers inbound phone calls using a cloned version of the caregiver's voice and responds to the caller using a personalised AI agent.

CompanionVoice is not a medical device. It is not intended to replace professional medical care, clinical assessment, licensed healthcare services, or any form of supervised care. It is not a safety monitoring system, and it does not guarantee the safety or wellbeing of any individual.

CompanionVoice is designed for personal, family caregiving use only. Caregivers remain solely responsible for their loved one's care and safety at all times.

3. Healthcare professional and institutional use

CompanionVoice is currently designed for individual family caregivers and is not approved or certified for clinical, institutional, or professional healthcare deployment. Use by care facilities, hospitals, clinicians, or any organisation providing care to patients requires a dedicated enterprise agreement.

If you represent a healthcare organisation and wish to explore how CompanionVoice could work in your context, please contact us at hello@companionvoice.ai before proceeding. Use of the Service in a clinical or institutional context without such an agreement is a violation of these Terms.

4. Account registration and security

You must provide accurate, complete information when creating your account and keep it up to date. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.

You must notify us immediately at hello@companionvoice.ai if you believe your account has been compromised. You may not share your account or permit others to access the Service using your credentials.

5. Subscription, billing, and cancellation

CompanionVoice offers a single subscription plan at $49 per month, inclusive of all features described on our pricing page.

  • Free trial. New accounts receive a 7-day free trial. No credit card is required to begin the trial. At the end of the trial period, a valid payment method is required to continue using the Service.
  • Billing. Your subscription is billed monthly on the anniversary of your first payment. Payments are processed by Stripe and are subject to Stripe's terms.
  • Cancellation. You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You will retain access to the Service until that date.
  • Refunds. We do not issue refunds for partial months. If you cancel mid-period, your access continues until the period ends.

6. Acceptable use

You agree to use CompanionVoice only for lawful, personal family caregiving purposes. You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for commercial resale, sub-licensing, or to provide services to third parties without our written consent
  • Use the Service with individuals who have not been previously introduced to the caregiver's voice and are not expecting calls from that person
  • Attempt to deceive individuals who have capacity and do not consent to speaking with an AI system
  • Use the Service in a manner that violates any applicable law or regulation
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, copy, or reproduce any part of the Service

7. Voice cloning licence

By recording your voice during onboarding, you grant CompanionVoice a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to clone your voice and use that voice clone solely for the purpose of operating the Service on your behalf — specifically, to answer inbound phone calls from your loved one.

Your voice data is not used for any other purpose. It is not used to train general AI models, for marketing, for product demonstrations, or shared with any third party beyond the voice synthesis provider (ElevenLabs) acting as our data processor. You may request deletion of your voice profile at any time by contacting us.

This licence terminates automatically when your account is closed or when you request deletion of your voice profile.

8. Limitation of liability

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated responses will always be accurate, appropriate, or suitable for your specific situation.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, CompanionVoice shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service. Our total liability to you for any claim arising from the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

You remain solely and fully responsible for your loved one's care, safety, and wellbeing. CompanionVoice does not accept responsibility for any outcome resulting from reliance on AI-generated conversations.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the courts of Delaware.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after that date constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you may cancel your subscription before the effective date at no additional charge.
